Checking SWR is as easy as 1,2,3. |
 |
1. Flip the SWR Switch to the CAL position.
Key up the radio and adjust the SWR Cal
Knob until the needle lines up with the little orange triangle in the
Upper Right hand corner of the meter.
|
|
 |
2.
After the meter is properly calibrated, flip the switch to the SWR
position.
Key up the radio and watch where the meter goes on the top scale.
If the needle remains at the very far left of the display, this is
considered a 1.0:1 SWR. If the Needle moves to the W in SWR, this
is considered a 1.5:1. If the SWR needle goes above a 3 on the top
scale this is considered a bad SWR and Needs attention. Using a
radio with a high SWR (over a 3.0:1) can and will damage your radio.
|
|
3.
Once you know you have a good SWR go ahead and flip the Switch into the
Top position labeled S/RF position so that the Meter will work to show
you both your transmit and Receive relative signals. When you key
the radio up, the needle should line up with the 9# signal mark on the
Bottom scale, unless the radio has been modified. |
|

|
Just remember, When you transmit the top LED should turn from green to
red when you key up the radio. The bottom LED is the antenna
warning LED and comes on when you transmit if your antennas SWR Becomes
unacceptable to use. |
